Funding

The History Department Fellowship offers 5 years of financial support to PhD students. The fellowship provides support for tuition and a stipend. The funding package includes a combination of fellowship stipends, teaching assistantships (TAships), and research assistantships (RAships). The fellowship includes support for 5 summers.

Here is a sample of how a PhD student is funded:

  • 1st year: 3 quarters fellowship stipend and summer stipend
  • 2nd year: 2 quarters TAships, 1 quarter RAship (pre-doc affiliate) and summer stipend
  • 3rd year: 2 quarters TAships, 1 quarter RAship (pre-doc affiliate) and summer stipend
  • 4th year: 3 quarters of RAships (pre-doc affiliate) and summer stipend
  • 5th year: 3 quarters of RAships (pre-doc affiliate) and summer stipend

Unfortunately, no funding is offered for the co-terminal and terminal MA programs
