Matthew Shutzer (UC Berkeley) will give a talk titled Building India’s Energy State (1938-1964).

Matthew Shutzer is Assistant Professor of History at the University of California, Berkeley. He previously taught at Duke University, and was a postdoctoral fellow at both Harvard and the College of Natural Resources at UC Berkeley. His writing has appeared or is forthcoming in Comparative Studies in Society and History, Past and Present, The Radical History Review, Comparative Studies of South Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, Osiris, and other outlets. His first book, "Subterranean Lands: India, Fossil Fuels, and the Limits of the Earth," is forthcoming with Princeton University Press.
