The David Rumsey Map Center in Green Library will host the Department of History for an informative tour about the services they offer. Please RSVP so we know how many people to expect. If you let us know your subject of study in the RSVP (location, time period, any other relevant information), we can try and pull relevant materials for viewing during your visit. This information needs to be submitted in your RSVP by January 24th so the materials will be available for the visit.

If you’d like to walk together, we will meet in front of the History Department’s Main Office at 9:45am and walk over to Green Library, or you may meet us at the David Rumsey Map Center at 10am. You will need your Stanford ID to get into the library. This is a great opportunity to see some of the resources that the library can offer for your research.

About the DRMC:

We are the premiere historical cartographic collection on the West Coast and hold one of the world’s great collections available for public research and global digital access. The collection numbers in the hundreds of thousands of digital and physical objects, with new acquisitions added on a weekly basis.

The center is also an exhibition space with a dynamic lineup of shows that feature cartographic materials. Two wall-sized screens are available for viewing maps and metadata in detail.

Please keep in mind that the DRMC will ask you to store your bags, water, and ink pens in lockers. This is to protect the collection.
