Born in 1926 to Korean indentured servant parents in Cuba, Jeronimo joins the Cuban revolution and crosses paths with Fidel Castro and Che Guevara, before turning to his Korean roots and identity.
This screening will include an introduction by professor Mikael Wolfe and will be followed by a Q&A with film director Jospeh Juhn.
About the director
Joseph Juhn is a Korean American lawyer-turned-documentary filmmaker. Joseph was working as a New York attorney for 4 years at a Korean government agency based in Manhattan, New York, specializing in Intellectual Property and Startup law prior to a serendipitous backpacking trip to Cuba in 2015. During the trip, he ran into a Korean descendant by chance, inspiring him to rekindle his storytelling ambitions.
"JERONIMO" is Joseph’s first feature film and was selected at 12 film festivals around the world. JERONIMO had its theatrical release in Korea in November 2019, drawing over 15,000 audiences nationwide and receiving one of the highest audience ratings in the year 2019. Joseph earned a BA in Film & Video at UC San Diego, and a JD at Syracuse University College of Law.
