History PhD candidate, David Fedman, receives the 2014 Ristow Prize for best essay in the history of cartography.

Congratulations to David Fedman, a PhD candidate in Japanese history,  who has won the 2014 Ristow Prize for best essay in the history of cartography!  The Dr. Walter W. Ristow Prize is offered annually by the Washington Map Society to recognize academic achievement in the History of Cartography.  David’s paper, "Mapping Armageddon: The Cartography of Ruin in Occupied Japan,” will appear in a forthcoming issue of The Portolan - Journal of the Washington Map Society.
