Eric Lindheim-Marx
Eric Lindheim-Marx, of Goleta, California, is a PhD student at Stanford University. During undergraduate study at Wesleyan University his focus was medieval French courtly literature. His research at the University of Strasbourg culminated in his Master’s thesis, “Articulations du sentiment identitaire messin au XIVe siècle”, an analysis of nascent collective civic identity in the Free City of Metz in the 14th century. Though his previous work has predominantly dealt with the history and culture of francophone communities of the border zone between the French and German realms, his current interests largely lie on the eastern frontier of the Holy Roman Empire, especially in Přemyslid Bohemia. At present, Eric is keen to examine cross-cultural interactions on the margins of the medieval German realm, especially between Germans and West Slavic peoples.
