Kayra Guven
A.B., History, Princeton University
Kayra Guven is a first-year Ph.D. candidate in the field of Transnational, International, and Global History. Prior to Stanford, she earned her A.B. in History from Princeton. Her senior thesis explored the ways in which different imperial powers—especially France—undermined Haitian sovereignty in public and private settings during the nineteenth century. She is interested in cultural, social, and labor history. Currently, her focus is on studying practices of informal imperialism by the French, Ottoman, and British empires in the Mediterranean.
