Kristen Alff is a doctoral student in the history department, studying modern Middle East history. Her interests include the Levant, capitalism, the history of the company, land and private property, and global history. The focus of her dissertation is the Levantine business community, Greek-Orthodox networks, and the commodification of land in the Levant. Her previous work explored the evolving political identities and affinities of Kurdish groups in Iraq under the British Mandate.
