Lauren is a PhD candidate (ABD) in the Department of History.  Her research is devoted to relations between Jewish and Christian communities in the period between the First Crusade and the Black Death, with a focus on the cultures of death, burial, and commemoration that emerged in these communities.  She has taught undergraduate courses at Stanford on ancient and medieval inter-faith relations between Judaism, Islam, and Christianity in the Middle East, West Asia and Europe, and the global ancient world.
