Matthew Nestler is a PhD candidate in history at Stanford University where he studies the history of economic life in modern Latin America and Brazil.  He is interested in examining the interactions among society, the economy, politics, and culture.  His dissertation is a social history, cultural history, and political economy of inflation and its relationship with inequality in Brazil from 1945-1994.
