Maya Martinez-Krams
Maya Martinez-Krams is a coterminal MA student who recently graduated with a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in Comparative Studies in Race & Ethnicity. Her undergraduate studies focused on educational equity as advanced through early childhood assessment practices, as well as protest movements in the U.S. in the 1960s and 70s.
Maya is interested in the intersection of urbanization and social movements, particularly how shifting federal policies in the 1960s and 70s and the structural changes that followed shaped the organizing strategies of social movements and communities in the Bay Area. She is beginning a thesis exploring lesbian bars in the Bay Area and the kinship practices, organizing strategies, and modes of resistance that emerged from these spaces.
