Miri Powell

Miri Powell is a PhD student in the Transnational, International, and Global field. Her work focuses on histories of technology, infrastructure, and environment in the twentieth century. She has pursued these interests through research on objects ranging from trans-Pacific telegraph cables to plastics and waste management systems. Her current project was broadly conceived as an environmental history of Silicon Valley and focuses on relationships between government agencies, chemical companies, and electronic device manufacturers in and beyond the Bay Area.
