Mustafa Emre Günaydı is a first-year History PhD student in Ottoman and Middle East history. His principal research interests include the socio-economic and environmental histories of the late Ottoman and British Mandate periods in Iraq with a specific focus on the transforming water infrastructure of the region. Currently, he contributes to OpenGulf, co-directed by Nora Elizabeth Barakat and David Joseph Wrisley, a transdisciplinary research group analyzing historical texts produced about the Gulf.
