Suchang Wu

Suchang Wu is an M.A. student in the Department of History at Stanford. His previous research attempted to uncover the lesser-known history of the Chinese diaspora on the East Coast, specifically in Connecticut. Utilizing neighborhood archives and oral history interviews, he explored how the Chinese American community has evolved over the past 200 years, initially rooted in Cantonese culture and later revitalized by more recent Fuzhounese immigrants, shaping the social, economic, and cultural landscapes of both local American communities and those in China, which extends to everything from Chinese American cuisine and education to the troubling past of human trafficking and gambling.
