Yuanhao Zou

Yuanhao Zou is a history PhD student specializing in the history of the Ottoman Empire and the Middle East. He is broadly interested in the political, cultural, and legal history of the Ottoman Empire's borderlands. He intends to work with sources in multiple regional languages to explore relevant topics.
He graduated from Carleton college in 2022 majoring in history and math. Upon graduation, he was awarded the Watson fellowship through which he spent a year traveling and studying folk music traditions and minority languages in the Caucasus, Northwest Africa, the Balkans, Mainland Southeast Asia, China, and Japan.
