Mariana Calvo

BA, Public Policy & History, Duke University ’17

Mariana Calvo is a second-year History PhD Student at Stanford University in Latin American history with a focus on telegraph history. More specifically, she is interested in how a small diaspora of British telegraphers shaped foreign policy and imperial ambitions in the region.

Outside of academia, Mariana has an avid interest in photography and journalism. Prior to Stanford, Mariana worked as a freelance journalist in Medellin, Colombia and New York City covering themes related to migration and drug trafficking.
